At least, that’s what I think after Sunday’s game.
In case you missed it, Matt Nagy started Andy Dalton as expected. However, in the second quarter, Dalton got injured so Justin Fields had to go in. And for a first game, he did pretty ok but there is definitely room for improvement. Stats are as follows:
- Went 6 for 13 (passes), 60 yards
- One interception
Compare this to Joe Burrow, Rookie for the Bengals
- 19-30 for 207 yards
- Two touchdowns
- Three interceptions
So I guess since Fields did not play a full game, it isn’t fair to compare, but…he looked nervous. Definitely “first game jitters” so this should improve.
In regards to defense, the Bears looked A LOT better than Week 1. Quote to use when talking about the game:
“That pick six that Roquan Smith had against the Bengals was awesome. If they keep this up, for sure they will beat the Packers on October 17.”

This weekend, the Bears play Cleveland Browns. ESPN is predicting that the Bears lose, but I am feeling optimistic.
Other notable sports things in Chicago this weekend:
- ND plays Wisconsin at Soldier Field. ESPN College Gameday will be in town, as will Barstool Sports for pregame shows. See ya at the Tailgates.
- Cubs are still blah. They are currently losing to the Cardinals 9-4.
Predictions: Bears win 27-23, Wisconsin 10-7, Cubs losing the rest of the year
